Danny Taylor joined the Tulane athletic training staff in January of 2008. Now in his fifth year as associate head athletic trainer, Taylor's primary responsibility is providing medical coverage and overseeing all aspects of healthcare for the Tulane University Football team. He is also the secondary athletic insurance coordinator for Tulane Athletics.
Taylor comes to Tulane after 4.5 years of service at Davidson College (2003-2008) in Davidson, NC. During his tenure at Davidson, he served as Assistant Athletic Trainer, where his primary responsibility was to provide medical coverage for the football, wrestling, and women's lacrosse teams. He was also in charge of inventory and supply ordering, acted as the NCAA drug testing site coordinator, and was responsible for organizing yearly pre participation physicals for all student-athletes. In addition, Taylor served as an Approved Clinical Instructor for the CAATE accredited Athletic Training Education Program at UNC-Charlotte.
Taylor was an athletic training student and earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Athletic Training from Appalachian State University in May of 2001. He then went on to earn a Master of Education in Adult and Community College Education from North Carolina State University in May of 2003 after serving two years as a Graduate Assistant Athletic Trainer with the football team.
He has been a certified athletic trainer and member of the National Athletic Trainers' Association since 2001. He is also currently a member of the Southeastern Athletic Trainers' Association and the Louisiana Athletic Trainers' Association.
A native of Matthews, NC, Danny and his wife, Melissa, have two sons Carter (3) and Cohen (1). They reside in New Orleans.
