David Gambel returned to the Tulane Athletic Training Staff in February of 2014 as an Associate Athletic Trainer. He was here previously as a Graduate Assistant Athletic Trainer from August 2011 until May of 2013. Gambel's primary responsibility is to provide medical coverage and oversee all aspects of healthcare for the Tulane Football team. He is also responsible for the yearly pre-participation physicals for all new and returning student-athletes.
Prior to his employment with the Tulane Athletic Training Staff, David worked at the Tulane Institute of Spots Medicine in a clinical and outreach athletic training position. While at the Tulane Institute of Sports Medicine he was the Head Athletic Trainer at Archbishop Shaw High School in New Orleans (June 2013-January 2014).
Gambel received his Master of Public Health from Tulane University School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine in May of 2013. During his Graduate Assistantship at Tulane he provided coverage to the Football team as well as the Men's and Women's Tennis teams.
Gambel received his Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology with a concentration in Athletic Training from Louisiana State University in May 2011. He earned experience working with the Football team, Women's Soccer team, as well as the Men's and Women's Swimming and Diving teams while at LSU.
He holds licensure in the State of Louisiana and has been a certified member of the National Athletic Trainers' Association since 2010. Currently he is also a certified member of the Southeastern Athletic Trainers' Association and the Louisiana Athletic Trainers' Association. He also is a National Registered Emergency Medical Technician.
Gambel and his wife, Kimberly, reside in Metairie.
