NEW ORLEANS - The Green Wave football, volleyball and women's soccer teams will welcome Tulane freshmen to campus Saturday morning by helping incoming students move into their dorms. Representatives from all three teams will be on hand from 9 a.m. to Noon at four different dormitories on campus.

Tulane football players and the football coaching staff, including Head Coach Chris Scelfo, will participate in Move In Day for the second straight year. The Green Wave team will work in shifts at both Sharp Hall and Monroe Hall, with the offense scheduled from 9-10:30 a.m. and the defense from 10:30-Noon. Sharp and Monroe are located off McAlister Drive behind the A.B. Freeman School of Business and McAlister Auditorium.

"It's a great way to help build our fan base on campus and to get our faces out there among the Tulane community," said veteran Tulane defensive lineman Michael Purcell. "It's positive for us to interact with our fellow students on another level and they get to see us and meet us personally, off the football field. I think maybe it gives them another perspective on football players."

The Tulane volleyball team, which has eight newcomers of its own, and the soccer team, will make their debuts as movers Saturday. The volleyball team will be at JL Residence Hall from 9-10:30 a.m. while the women's soccer squad, which is hosting the Tulane Invitational which games both Friday and Sunday this weekend, will be at Butler Hall from 9:30-10:30 a.m.

All three Tulane teams have been on campus since August 8th and 9th. Classes begin Wednesday, August 31st, and the Saturday before classes begin is traditionally the busiest "moving day" for students.

The Green Wave women's soccer and volleyball teams opened their 2005 seasons Friday night while football kicks off its 2005 campaign Sunday, Sept. 4 in a nationally-televised ESPN2 game in Hattiesburg, Miss. versus Conference USA foe Southern Miss. Tulane opens its 2005 home schedule in the Louisiana Superdome on Saturday, Sept. 17 versus Mississippi State. Kickoff time is 7 p.m. Season and single game tickets for all three teams are available in the Tulane Athletics Ticket Office in the James Wilson Center, by calling 504-861-WAVE or on-line at
