IRVING, Texas - Thirty-one Tulane student-athletes were named to the Conference USA Academic Medal list for their achievements in the classroom, Commissioner Britton Banowsky announced.
The C-USA Academic Medal is awarded to student-athletes who achieved a cumulative GPA a 3.75 or better. A total of 539 student-athletes across C-USA were awarded medals this year.
Tulane's track and field program placed a school-leading nine on the list, while the swimming and football programs were right behind them with seven and six members, respectively. The men's tennis team and the baseball squad placed two on the list, while men's basketball, women's basketball, women's tennis and volleyball were all represented by one member, each.
Last week, the conference announced that 158 Green Wave student-athletes were named to the Conference USA Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll for maintaining a GPA of 3.00 or better. The 30 Tulane Academic Medal award winners were included in that list, as well.
