Dear Green Wave Fans,
How appropriate that I am writing to you on St. Patrick's Day. In addition to this being a day when the whole world celebrates wearing green, I am writing to you with news that will make Greenies everywhere excited about the future of Tulane football.
Last night at the Wilson Center, Tulane President Scott Cowen and I addressed an overflow crowd that gathered for the debut of The Playbook, which articulates our vision for Tulane's football program. Beginning this year and into the future, we expect our football program to win consistently, compete for the conference championship and participate in post-season play.
As President Cowen says in his message in The Playbook, it is now time to focus on the development and success of Tulane Athletics. Now more than ever, we need all of our fans and supporters to come together and support the amazing student-athletes who proudly represent our university. It is time to look ahead and make the most of our opportunities.
We now have the tools to build a successful program, including increased financial support, increased admissions support, priority registration for student-athletes, additional academic advisors and tutors, more strength and conditioning staff, plus we are exploring a better game day experience. Check out The Playbook for details. As always your comments and questions are appreciated, so please e-mail them to firstname.lastname@example.org. You will receive a response.
Last night was all about football (plus a little baseball as the Wave defeated Alcorn State 12-0 at Turchin), but tonight is all about our women's basketball team. Following a 22-win season and a trip to the Conference USA Championship title game, the team was rewarded with an at-large berth to the 2011 Women's National Invitation Tournament. Tonight they tip off against in-state foe Southern University at 7 p.m. in Fogelman Arena.
Coach Lisa Stockton is so fired up about a great home crowd that she's personally buying the first 100 student tickets. We know that Southern is going to bring a bunch of fans; let's make sure that all Green Wave supporters turn out in force. Our team deserves lots of noise and fanfare. See you tonight!
PS: Almost forgot--take a look at our new recruiting website. It's a great site that really emphasizes what makes Tulane and New Orleans a terrific destination for student-athletes.
