Tulane Athletics Fund Held Student-Athlete Thank-A-Thon Jan. 27-29

Feb. 17, 2014

NEW ORLEANS - With the new year underway, it's time to thank those who made 2013 such a special year for the Tulane Green Wave. From Jan. 27-29, the Tulane Athletics Fund (TAF) office held its student-athlete Thank-A-Thon by hosting student-athletes who have volunteered their time to reach out to TAF donors from the 2013 calendar year.

"It is really important for our student-athletes to connect with the people that help provide this incredible opportunity for them," said Mary Hoffman, Assistant Athletic Director and Director of the Tulane Athletics Fund. "The Thank-A-Thon provides the perfect opportunity to do just that while delivering a well-deserved thank you."

The Tulane Athletics Fund creates opportunities for each Green Wave student-athlete that otherwise might not be possible. Each gift goes to work immediately to meet pressing needs and to continue building programs of promise and distinction.

2013 was a special year for Tulane athletics, as many of the Green Wave varsity teams accomplished feats they set out for during the beginning of their seasons. The Tulane football team played in their first bowl game in 11 seasons. The men's and women's basketball squads earned postseason berths. The sand volleyball program was nationally ranked, and the indoor volleyball program had the best turnaround in the NCAA from 2012 to 2013. The women's golf team competed for a national championship. The track and field team qualified multiple student-athletes for regional and national championship meets.

In addition to the success in their respective sports, 14 of the 16 Tulane Green Wave varsity sports recorded team GPAs of 3.0 or higher this past fall. Many of these accomplishments by Tulane student-athletes couldn't have happened without the support from TAF donors.

This year marks an unprecedented time for TAF donors with the grand opening of Yulman Stadium. TAF donors will receive access to the best seats and amenities that Tulane has to offer. For more information regarding the Tulane Athletics Fund, visit www.TulaneAthleticsFund.com or call (504) 865-5356.
